Sometimes ya' just gotta believe...what a feeling it was on Friday at the Olympic Oval! Our Team USA pursuit team did what many thought was impossible, we beat the powerhouse Dutch team and advanced to the gold medal round on Saturday against Canada. I can't even express how proud I am of the young guys on Team USA. Jonathan Kuck, Brian Hansen & Trevor Marsicano stepped up big time for their team and for the USA. They may not be recognized names yet, but they represent the future of
US Speedskating and I am proud to be in a position to be a mentor to these young skaters. I had some great role models when I came into the sport, KC Boutiette & Derek Parra showed me ropes and taught me lessons about the sport and about myself that I'll never forget. To be a part of that team on Friday, to be part of that experience for Team USA is something that I will never forget. Win or lose I am proud to take the ice with them on Saturday and go for the gold in my final Olympic race, and after beating the Dutch on Friday, ya' just gotta believe, right...?
Before stepping onto the ice Saturday night for what was to be my last individual race of my 16 year professional career, emotions came down on me as if I had been training my whole life for this one event. In reality, it was self inflicted pressure on myself for a storybook ending in front of millions to a skating career that taught me so much. After 50 inline world championships to 4 Olympic medals now looking back I wonder why I put so much pressure on myself to do something special. Can you imagine feeling like a lifetime of training comes down to the next 105 seconds of your life? Well that's how it felt. The fact is this that regardless of what place I came across the line, speedskating doesn't define who I am. It has definitely taught me a lot in the life, but how can I ignore how blessed I am off the ice as well. Will another gold medal make my wife or daughter love me any more? No. Of course the 1500 meter last night was a goal that I set for myself two years hoping to win gold, but there are much bigger goals for me as a man now- starting with being the best husband and father I can be. That's what life's about! Thanks to everyone who supported me through the years. It was such an honor to be a part of Team USA for the past two Olympic Games. People think that the Olympics is about you trying to stand atop the podium for self satisfaction, but for me it's also been about making everyone at home proud to be an American like I am. God bless! - Chad

Great feeling as I made it to the podium in Vancouver, winning Olympic bronze medal in the 1000m. It was a great night for me, to be able to share the moment with friends and family. Congratulations to Shani on his victory in 1000m. I'll be back on the ice at the Richmond Oval in Vancouver on Saturday in the 1500m.
Good morning guys! What a day yesteday! I was part of an american record setting performance- 6 medals in one day! Congrats Shaun White, Scotty Lago, Lindsey Vonn, Julie Mancuso, Shani Davis and myself- what an honor! We overtook Germany in the medal count with this accomplishment. After a tough day on the ice yesterday in the 5000m (11th place) one thing became clear

h Columbia) - Some of the most memorable times that you are able to spend during the Olympics are the ones with family and friends. After winning a bronze medal in the 1000m on Wednesday, I was able to attend and event at the USA house and an event with my family and friends. We celebrated with Shaun White and ran into Wayne Gretzky. What a great night! I am a big fan of Shaun's work on the slopes so it was really fun to hang out and snap
a few pictures. And many people don't realize that as a kid I played a great deal of ice hockey, so to meet the greatest ice hockey player of all time Wayne Gretzky was a great thrill! What a special night for me with friends and family. I got to finish the night by honoring my dad with an award from myself and The US Olympic Committee for being a mentor for me as an athlete. He gave me the heart of a champion! Thanks Pops!!!!

I am having the time of my life here in Vancouver with my wife, daughter, friends, and family and I assure you that win, lose, or draw my family and I will leave here with special memories to share with each other forvever. I just wish everyone at home could be here to go through this with me- what a feeling!!! To represent the country that I love so much not once, but twice I feel blessed!Goodnight guys- had a great night with my family and Procter & Gamble House after the race. Now I'll start preparing for the 1000 meter on the 17th. Hope the support continues- you guys are incredible! Go USA!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Chad
